The Crowley Curse

THE HISTORY FRAUDSTERS   SAY  THE  BLACK MAGIC WIZARD ALEISTER CROWLEY CONJURED  UP A RITUAL  OR AN  EVIL  CURSE  UPON EVAN’S COMMANDING OFFICER. THIS CAUSED THE POOR MAN TO NEARLY DIE.

 THE TRUE FACTS :  Evan Morgan’s commanding officer – or in the alterative Evan’s fellow officer (s) who informed on him did not suffer any mysterious illness – nor did  either a man or  beast  nearly die as a result of a spell or ritual conjured up by  Aleister Crowley on the latter’s visit to Tredegar House in 1943.  All the participants – ironically except  Evan and Crowley lived to a ripe age.  

This story of Evan coaxing Crowley into cursing those who had brought him down is poppycock.   When Crowley visited Tredegar House in 1943 he was virtually  washed up as a  serious black magic/ occult figure – he preferred drinking  Evan’s brandy and playing chess.   

The story of Crowley’s visit to Tredegar House is divulged  in Crowley’s own diaries- he makes no mention of curses  and  the visit  features  in the excellent  book “  Magic Without Mirrors: The Making of a Magician”  ISBN 9781463761721 by David Conway and in “ Not Behind Lace Curtains: The hidden world of Evan, Viscount Tredegar”  by William Cross.  ISBN 9781905914210.

EVAN  MORGAN VISCOUNT TREDEGAR RESIGNS FROM THE ARMY :

Evan was in effect brought down by a carrier pigeon.   In 1943 he resigned his commission giving a leg injury as the reason. This  resignation was announced in the London Gazette of 13 August 1943

History is too sacred to be mocked or  just made up to suit the self-image of the story tellers, those who wallow in their own importance.  They know who they are - moreover they have followers who are gullible and misled.

Anyone who considers  themselves  entitled to change historical facts  are scurrilous  they are damaging   the public’s right to be told the truth, such treatment  amounts to a lie, and a history fraud.

 THE  HISTORY FRAUDSTERS SAY THAT EVAN MORGAN WAS PART OF MI 8 during WW2  that he was involved in  a plan to drop  ‘spy pigeons’ in their hundreds  over home/ enemy territory and that  this only resulted in the birds being ‘minced’ after getting sucked into the plane engines.  This story source is in  Perdurabo : a biography of Aleister Crowley, the Satanist, who did know Evan, but only slightly.  Crowley was interviewed by MI 8 during the War but  the rest is a lie.  Crowley himself ironically penned a book of “Lies”.

THE TRUE FACTS  : Evan Morgan was  actually seconded to work in MI 14.  The  MI 8 operation involving the mass loss of pigeons took place in a  war game rehearsal that went wrong  on the marshlands of the South Coast of England, Evan was not involved in event in  the slightest way even behind the scenes,  MI 14 and MI 8 were rival  Intelligence factions. 

The man behind the MI 8  pidgeon fiasco was Wing Commander George Waller, ( 1911-1999)  a veteran in Coastal Command during the WW2 and later a notable  High Court Judge.

THE  HISTORY FRAUDSTERS SAY  EVAN MORGAN  WAS  HELD IN THE TOWER OF LONDON  AWAITING  HIS COURT MARTIAL  AND WHILST HELD THERE HE WAS VISITED BY A OLD FRIEND NAMED RICHARD ‘ DICKIE’ BUCKLE.

THE TRUE FACTS : Evan, Lord Tredegar was NOT held in the Tower of London when arrested for  offences against the Official Secrets Act, he was in fact on open arrest at Chelsea Barracks awaiting his Court Martial. 

During one of the nights before he was tried he dined with  Richard ‘Dickie Buckle’  ( later a ballet critic).   Buckle was also at Chelsea Barracks with his regiment awaiting embarkation to fight in Italy.    The detail is in Dickie Buckle’s memoir “ The Most Upsetting Woman” ISBN 0002163268.

THE HISTORY FRAUDSTERS  SAY   EVAN MORGAN ESCAPED COURT MARTIAL AFTER INTERVENTION BY MI5 ?

THE TRUE  FACTS :   Evan, Lord Tredegar was NOT freed  by MI5 or any other spy network  from facing a  full Court Martial for breaches of the Official  Secrets Act.   The Court Martial duly convened on 19 April, 1943, Evan was  found guilty of two the three counts charged and was  severely reprimanded. The transcript of the Court Martial and verdict is National Archives, Kew.  WO 71/1078. 

THE  HISTORY FRAUDSTERS   SAY   THE KING               ( GEORGE VI ) TURNED A BLIND EYE TO EVAN’S ARREST IN 1943

 THE TRUE FACTS :  As Evan Morgan  was a peer of the realm a proclamation  was issued by/to the House of Lords  about his arrest.  An Address of thanks  was  also sent on 13 April 1943 by King George VI  acknowledging that the arrest had taken place.  A copy of the Address is in the Parliamentary Archives, reference HL/PO/CP/2/2/195. The matter was the talk of Whitehall.
